Believe me, I’ve spent many years trying to pump up my self-image so I could feel worthy, loved, accepted. I even built barriers between myself and God just so I wouldn’t have to face my faults and utter hopelessness.
What I finally realized was that God made me worthy of love because of what He sees in me: His Son. It had nothing to do with me at all. The sooner I realized I didn’t need an over-inflated self-image, the sooner my breakthrough came. I didn’t have to love myself more. I just needed greater intimacy with my Savior. I needed to see myself through Jesus.
It’s really incredible if you think about it. The One who created my life also made me worthy of His love. He gave me Jesus… my Savior, my King. And it’s through Him that I know who I am.
