Restoration

I heard a story of a woman who purchased a painting at a flea market. Until an art restorationist examined it, she had no idea she had purchased a priceless masterpiece! Underneath the outer layers of paint, was the original work of a Master.

The individual that painted over the original masterpiece must have had no idea they were actually devaluing the priceless painting.

We are created in the image of Christ. Is this what we do? Life, circumstances, words spoken over us, and words we speak over ourselves, have caused us to be largely ignorant of the fact that we are masterfully created. Even as you read this, you may be having cynical thoughts about this being true about you. Let’s see if God agrees with this opinion.

Ephesians 2:10: “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

We are all a restoration in progress. Created in the image of God, with purpose and intention to do the good works that we have been foreordained to do, we are each a one-of-a-kind masterpiece

The enemy is out to kill, steal and devour what has been put in each of us, but the enemy doesn’t get the final word! Jesus tells us that “The Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” (Luke 19:10). The restorer of all things has come to restore what was lost in our true identity; God’s original work in us!

God has come to “restore to us the joy of our salvation so that we are able to teach transgressors His ways, and sinners will turn back to Him.” (Psalm 51:12-13)

His restoration doesn’t end with us! Praise be to God!
