No Carb Bread

Our culture is replete with specialized diets to enhance our health. Most recommend limiting carbohydrate intake. One of the tastiest delivery systems of carbs is bread! And I’m told limiting or eliminating bread is rather difficult. Good News! There is bread that has ONLY beneficial properties – to our bodies AND our souls.

When we pray in the Lord’s Prayer “give us this day our daily bread,” we acknowledge looking to God for what is required for that particular day.

In the Old Testament, God provided the Israelites manna, a wafer made with honey, and His provision was good for one day only.

God is encouraging us to trust in Him and not fear for our needs or try to believe we have control. Isaiah 43:1: “…Do not fear, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by name; you are MINE.” Beautiful encouragement.

God’s supreme gift to mankind came in Bethlehem, which means “House of Bread”.  Jesus is the complete provision for ALL. He said of Himself, “I am the Bread of Life; whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” (John 6:35) In Christ alone we find full satisfaction. There is no want in Jesus.

In the natural, we eat, but become hungry again; we drink, but thirst returns. This doesn’t occur when we are satiated with the Bread of Life. It’s forever!

Jesus said bread represented His very body. In communion, we acknowledge His body crushed, bruised and broken for us as we take the bread.

Communion is a reminder of God’s provisions for each of us. We need not fear today OR tomorrow.

“You, Lord, are ALL I have, and you give me ALL I need.” (Psalm 16:5)

God’s provisions are ALL carb free!
