Created In His Image

Created In His Image

I am overwhelmed by the goodness of God. He sees us as His one-of-a-kind masterpiece. “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago” (Eph 2:10).

Now, that is a tough one (but a blessed one) for me to grasp. Surely, God has a different view of me than I have of myself! Perhaps He sees me through the eyes of redemption and restoration.

Let me share some illustrations that the Lord brought to my mind. A painting sold at a yard sale was an unbelievably valuable work of one of the Renaissance masters. An art restorer worked on it for over a year, removing what was covering the original work of art. The worth of the original painting was not recognized and was painted over. Don’t we fail to see our value, allowing life to “paint over us” and hide what God has created? But He came to restore His image in us.

A friend shared how his future daughter-in-law found an antique wedding dress that was beautiful but was stained. She took it to a dry cleaner that meticulously and lovingly removed the stains and restored the garment to its original glory. Sounds like what God is doing with His bride.

God sees us as He created us to be. He is in the business of redemption and restoring all things to Himself. Ask Him to allow you to see yourself through His eyes!
