Doors

Doors

A friend once told me about acing a job interview, only to open a closet DOOR instead of the exit DOOR to leave the office. Ouch!  We live in a time of transition: political, cultural, and spiritual. We must choose the right DOOR for our next step.

How do we navigate change? The Bible uses the word “DOORS” as a metaphor for closing one season and making a fresh beginning. Our first step is THE ONE life-altering transition that affects EVERYTHING. Jesus describes Himself in John 10:9, “I am the DOOR: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.” If we are indeed “in Him,” our whole approach to change is altered by our need to consult Him for every decision. The big ASK acronym is unfolded in Matthew 7:7, “ASK and it shall be given unto you; SEEK and ye shall find, KNOCK and it shall be opened unto you.” He will open a way before us as we knock on the DOOR, asking for His help.

Service anchors us despite winds of change. It gives meaning and stability. Pray for a DOOR of service as Paul did in 1 Corinthians 16:9.

We all experience problems: death, job issues, betrayal. God provides a DOOR of hope in Hosea 2:15 to get us through the “Valley of Achor” (trouble).

He adjusts DOORS on our behalf as we seek Him. We learn to trust His leadership in turbulent times. “I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open DOOR, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name” (Revelation 3:8). I see Him with His foot in the DOOR, ushering in destiny.
