What Brand Are Your Shoes

What “Brand” Are Your Shoes?

In Ephesians 6:15, we are told to “have our feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.” The words shod, and preparation give such deep meaning to this piece of a believer’s armor. Shod means to “bind on.” When a horse is shod, a shoe is custom-fitted and nailed securely into the hooves. The word preparation refers to having a firm foundation or knowledge.

As believers, our shoes of peace are custom-shaped and prepared. Our journeys are unique. Peter speaks of us enduring many trials that will show our faith is genuine. (1Peter1:6)

This overcoming of our trials is what gives us the preparation of a firm foundation and knowledge of the gospel. This experiential knowledge of truth binds our feet securely and with surety in knowing Jesus, as we walk through the trials of life.

This gives us the “peace beyond understanding” spoken of in Phil 4:7. The peace I walk in will differ from yours.

Let me explain. I have a sweet friend who suffers from severe chronic pain. She walks in the peace and experiential knowledge of Jesus being her source and strength that is beyond my comprehension. That is her brand, if you will. It gives her a spiritual authority to speak peace into the lives of those suffering.

As Jesus washed his disciples’ feet, allow him to fit you with the gospel of peace that you uniquely can bring to the world.
