Call of Nehemiah

The Call of Nehemiah

I look into their eyes and behold what do I see?
Their wall has been destroyed by the lies of the enemy.
The bricks, they are in pieces and have crumbled to the ground
I look for signs of life, but only death and pain are found.
I could see amongst the ruin, remnants of the Builder’s hand
The beauty of the Maker that used to fill this land.
While looking on the ground, I saw a piece of broken stone
It looked different from the others, my eyes saw it alone.
When I bent to pick it up and touched the broken brick,
I felt the pain of years, so intense my heart grew sick.

I asked the One beside me, who restored my wounded soul.
“What can I do now to help this one be whole”?
He looked into my eyes with love so pure and true,
He said, “if you will listen, I’ll show you what to do.”
He took the broken pieces and held it closely to His heart
He said with much compassion, “This is where we’ll start.”
The cry of Nehemiah is going forth so loud and clear,
Rise up and rebuild, my restitution is here.
Go out and find the rubble, bring the wounded and marred.
Don’t be disheartened by what you might see,
For My love will restore them if you’re yielded to me.
It’s the ones that are broken and of no use to man
That, when they’re restored, will fulfill My heart’s plan.
Nothing is impossible, hearken to My call.
“Rise up, mighty army and rebuild the wall.”
