Recently, in moments before sleep fell, I began to list, alphabetically, areas of gratitude. This is my own personal list, which amazed me!
A – Atonement – Jesus’ sacrifice to reconcile me to God.
B – Baking – the aroma testifying to the results!
C – Choices – each one determines the trajectory of an hour, a day, a life.
D – Doors – I can open and close and I have to be careful.
E – Easter – my favorite celebration – the empty tomb – freedom – transformation.
F – Family – my parents’ legacy of faith now reaches five generations.
G – Gary – my darling – wise, witty, authentic representation of Jesus in my life.
H – Heroes – no capes – mine wear stethoscopes, business suits, aprons, and even camo gear!
I – Ice cream – enough said!
J – Jesus – the beautiful, matchless name that is above all other names.
K – Knowledge – the surpassing greatness of knowing Him.
L – Laughter – so thankful – it’s healing and causes fewer wrinkles!
M – Mercy – I need it every morning.
N – No – Will you leave me? overlook my sin? Is my failure too much? Will you forget me?
O – Opinions – not truth, just perceptions: “mushrooms are nasty, gray, rubbery additions to food.” Just MY opinion.
P – Pastors – so many have made rich deposits in me.
Q – Quiet – solace, tranquility, brain cells relaxing.
R – Richey – my name – I cherish it – I always want to honor it.
S – Snow! Soft, quiet, clean, beautiful and S.C. rare!
T – Taste buds – God’s generous gift. He didn’t have to.
U – Understanding – what covers my life – His truth.
V – Voices – God’s voice, sometimes whispery, in my soul and sweet family voices.
W – Words – I can use them for life, encouragement, love and healing – my choice.
X – Christ – the Greek letter meaning Christ, the Anointed One.
Y – Yes – Am I loved? Forgiven? Do I have a purpose?
Z – Zillions of other things!!
