Rest

Rest

Rest- refreshing tranquility…
Rest – the part that is left or remains.

In Psalm 23:2 (TPT) we read “He offers a resting place for me in His luxurious love.”
The footnote in The Passion Translation reads, “The Greek word ‘to love’ is Agagpeo, which is the merging of two words and concepts. Ago means ‘to lead like a shepherd’ and pao is a verb that means ‘to rest.’ Love is our shepherd leading us to the place of the rest in His heart.”

This brings me to “the part that is left or remains” Hebrews 4:19 is a familiar verse; “There remaineth a rest for the people of God…” What remains, what is left for His children?

“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known” 1 Cor 4:12. A full understanding remains for us.

“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived. The things God has prepared for those that love Him- these are the things God has revealed to us by His Spirit” 1 Cor: 2:9. This is what is left for us, what remains: this is the rest.

So how do we enter the rest? How do we see and hear what God has prepared for us? How do we see more clearly through this “glass darkly”?

We gain entrance by a compelling word – faith. “Faith is the confidence in what we hope for and the assurance about what we do not see” Hebrews 11:1.

This is how we rest in all that remains for us in Him.
