Open the eyes of my heart.

Open the Eyes of My Heart

Paul prays over the church in Ephesus, “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people, and His incomparably great power for us who believe.” Eph 1:18

Have you ever noticed that closing your eyes can throw off your balance? The thought came to me that even our spiritual balance needs open eyes. The eyes of our hearts need to be opened to stand when the evil one tries to make us fall.

Jesus is the great physician. We need to see Him as our eye doctor, allowing Him to remove the “cataracts” that cloud our spiritual vision. Let Him remove those things that keep us from knowing the hope to which we have been called, the glorious inheritance, and the great power for us who believe.

Let me be bold in saying that if we believers are not living in this knowledge and power, we must get our eyes checked. Let me be the first to include myself as needing this enlightenment that the Apostle Paul prays over the body of Christ.

This has profoundly serious implications for the body “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eye is healthy your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy your whole body will be full of darkness…” (Matt 6:22)

This is a warning to us as individuals and the Body, the church. Jesus, the lover of our souls, desires to remove anything that keeps us from seeing Him as He is; and anything that keeps us from seeing who we are in Him. Oh, that we would see Jesus!
