Justice In The Storm

Justice In The Storm

Something woke me, that cold dark Autumn night…
The sound of the wind, displaying it’s strength and might
I listened for awhile, thought maybe it would blow on by,
But then it screamed louder, telling me the reasons why.

It spoke clearly now, saying “Nothing here can stay.
The things you have here now will only get in your way.”
“I’ll destroy IT ALL, until everything is bare,
The only thing you keep, is what you’re gonna wear.”

So I let the wind demolish all that I’ve ever known
Everything I’ve reaped and everything I’ve sown.
I lay there naked…empty, bare and cold.
The passion left inside was the only thing to hold.

I heard Him whisper, as He left and slowly kissed my heart,
“This is not the end, this is the dawn of a new start.”
He left me there in silence, with nothing else around.
It hit me then…I’m not lost, finally I’m found.

The morning light hit my face and stirred my soul awake.
I remembered all that happened here, it was all that I could take.
Somewhere deep inside me, I knew this was for real.
The wind took all the past, so finally I’d heal.

The storm is gone now, but it left a trace
of savage winds that blew and filled this place.
It tore down the lies that grew from guilt and fear.
It’s haunting screams, when I listen, I can faintly hear.

Thank you, wind, for blowing, and cleaning out my heart.
Your strength you left within me, never to depart.
And as I live, I’ll make sure to give out what you gave.
‘Cause in the storm was destiny, my soul to be saved.
