Did you know that God is adoringly thinking about you right now?
My parents have been married for over sixty years. In their eighties now, they have physical and mental challenges. My dad is mentally sharp but severe neuropathy makes it difficult for him to walk. He should be in a wheelchair but he uses a cane and wobbles about.
My mom was the one who took care of all of us. Mom is dealing with dementia now. It’s heartbreaking to witness her decline and to feel like I’m losing my connection to her.
The extraordinary thing about my dad is that he is meekly devoted to my mom in a way that far surpasses Noah Calhoun (from The Notebook). He does not leave my mom’s side and is her constant companion. He’s trustworthy, loyal, patient, thoughtful, kind, and devoted to her. He can barely walk but he makes her three meals a day, helps her, and answers her same questions several times a day. When I told him he does a great job caring for her, he said, “She’s my better half.”
God is devoted to you far beyond any human being. The beautiful picture of my dad caring for his bride reminds us that our Groom is dedicated to us beyond our imagination.
“How precious also are your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more than the sand,” (Psalm 139:17-18).
We are so special to Him. He is pursuing our salvation and redemption, even when we are not deserving. Let’s remember His primary act of devotion: Sending Jesus Christ to die for our sins, demonstrating the depth of His love for us.
