What Has the Lord Been Showing You Lately

What Has the Lord Been Showing You Lately?

My close friend, Amy, has a habit of drawing me closer to the Lord. When we get together, one thing she normally does is ask me a simple question. She also asks herself this question regularly and is genuinely interested in hearing my answer.

The question, “What has the Lord been showing you lately?” is more than a polite inquiry; it’s an invitation to share in the divine journey of another and deepen our understanding. I like to think of it as a garden. Just as a gardener carefully observes new shoots and blossoms, we are meant to notice the insights, challenges, and blessings God is cultivating in our lives.

When we ask this question, we open a door for others to articulate God’s active presence. This act of verbalizing strengthens their faith and allows us to witness His work firsthand. It builds community and purpose. Proverbs 27:17 reminds us, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Hearing how God is working in someone else’s life can provide a fresh perspective for our own.

Amy’s question isn’t just spiritual small talk. It’s an invitation to unearth the hidden gems of divine revelation in the everyday. We can open space to articulate breakthroughs, moments of clarity, and even wrestling matches.

Jeremiah 33:3 states, “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great unsearchable things you do not know.” When we ask what God has been showing us, we are, essentially, making that call, expecting Him to reveal great and unsearchable things.

So, let’s ask this profound question often, of ourselves and those around us. Let’s listen intently, not just to respond, but to understand and celebrate the continuous revelation of our faithful God.
