Behold

Behold

In Revelation 21:5, God says “Behold, I am making all things new.” Please take a moment to absorb the intensity of the word BEHOLD. The origin is Old English BIHALDAN, from BI- ‘thoroughly’ + HALDAN ‘to hold’. A verb meaning to see or observe. An exclamation, here I am! Thoroughly means complete and absolute. Hold indicates the capacity for, to carry, or keep.

BEHOLD… now let’s focus on the words following.

The Lord says, I AM. We can be sure, His plan, promise, and desire to be with us, each of us, is also complete and absolute. He said, therefore He will.

Does ALL THINGS begin with the heart? Our heart, His heart? God’s everlasting love. The beginning and the end, the center and the exterior and all things in between. The largest and the smallest, the first and the last.

NEW, and now for the first time. Different from a previous one. Regarded as better than was meant before. Don’t you love that, better than?

Will the ashes swirl back into a breathing life? Will the wilted flowers burst into vibrant colors again? Will stained glass and broken promises rise from the rubble? Will spirits crushed and hearts shattered restore anew?

The new creation. His creation, preparing a place for each of us who love and honor Him. My room will have lots of windows, white shutters, and a rocking chair, where Jesus sits, and I will kneel at His feet. Where I am all things new.

BEHOLD. Because He said so.
