There’s a captivating program called, “Alone.” Ten participants are dropped in desolate, isolated areas, like Antarctica, and must survive completely alone, and with minimal survival equipment. The environment is bitterly harsh, but many find that being totally alone is what defeats them.
Do we fear desertion and abandonment? We NEVER have to fear those things with God.
Psalm 139:8, “If I go up to heaven, You are there; If I go down to the place of the dead, You are there.” Well, that covers it all!
God’s love says, “I know where you are. I’m always with you.”
He is there in WANT. God is our total provision. “As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought of me. You are my Help and my Deliverer…” Psalm 40:17.
He’s there in BLESSING. He’s our guiding Shepherd and Redeemer. “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency…you may ABOUND in every good work.” II Corinthians 9:8.
He’s near in SORROW. His spirit leads us to repentance and brings comfort in loss. “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18.
God’s present in our JOY. He delights over us and our relationship with Him. “You will show me the path of life; in your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand there are pleasures EVERMORE. Psalm 16:11.
He’s there in FAILURE. He does not abandon or condemn. “The Lord upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.” Psalm 145:14.
He’s close in our VICTORIES. God rejoices WITH US! “But thanks to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Philippians 4:13.
And He is with us through every other passage of life. We are NEVER alone. God is our Steadfast, Eternal Presence.
