“Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.” ~Psalm 141:3
Lord, this is my prayer today. Protect me from the deception and schemes of the evil one who only desires me to play along with his lies. Do not let my speech betray You in a moment of disappointment or frustration. Put a holy guard over my mouth so I honor you with my words and the reactions that come out of my heart through my lips and resonate forever in this earth. I can’t ever get them back – words spoken from an ungrateful heart. Words that are negative, unkind, judgemental, spoken prematurely or opinions imposed on another with careless thought of how they may sound. Keep watch over the door of my lips when someone tests my patience or disappoints my expectations. Let my words be grateful, soft, kind, wise. Let my words bring healing, peace and encouragement. More than any of that, let my words honor You. Words spill out of the heart, not the mouth so “Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10) “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer. (Psalm 19:14). AMEN!
