Reality is the state of things as they ACTUALLY exist, as opposed to an idealistic idea of them.
We are inundated with “reality” programs that purport to show an accurate reflection of life. I think we all understand the programs are scripted “entertainment,” with little reality.
And yet, we all long for reality, for truth, for a firm base on which to stand. Alert! The world and its systems will NEVER offer us that security.
We must look directly to our Father for it. It is impossible for God to lie (Hebrews 6:18). Every word He speaks or action He takes is perfect and absolute. This is reality.
God is righteous. Only the blood of the perfect sacrifice, Jesus, could satisfy His righteousness, so He came, Himself, to rescue us. “The judgements of the Lord are altogether righteous” (Psalm 19:9).
God is the only true God. He was not created by man, as other gods, but is transcendent, before time, and has always been alive. “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end” (Revelation 22:13).
God is merciful. He is patient, long suffering. There is no place you can go, no matter how far from Him, that God’s mercy cannot find you and bring you home. “You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you” (Psalm 86:5).
God keeps His promises. He is supremely faithful. He will never falter. “The Lord is faithful in all He does” (Psalm 145:17).
God is coming back! The God who cannot lie promises, “Look, I am coming soon! …I will give to each person according to what they have done” (Revelation 22:7).
Looking for a reality check in your life? It is found in Him.
