Not long ago I was blessed by the generosity of others. Never before had anyone poured out so kindly on me – it was a first and has left a lasting impression. Although appreciated and needed, it wasn’t the gifts themselves that meant so much to me. Rather, it was the joy with which the givers gave that truly left an indelible mark.
Whether you are the giver or the receiver, the blessing of a joyfully generous heart goes beyond the gift itself. A kind word or a needed item delivered by a generous heart has the power to show God’s love in extraordinary ways. A cheerful giver is a triple threat: they bless the receiver, they bless God, and in return, they are blessed by God.
Paul says in 2 Corinthians 9:12, “This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.”
In a world that screams “me and mine,” we can show God’s love and kindness with our generosity poured out through a joyful heart.
