What does it take to move from a calling into the life God has called us into? I believe each one of us is an answer to a question people are asking, part of a solution to a problem of our time. And we have no shortage of problems!
Take a look at the life of Abram (exalted father) for example. He became Abraham (the father of many nations) at 99 years old. I’ve learned a lot from his story. Being called doesn’t mean that we are perfect or fully prepared or that our character is totally in-tact. Abraham had some sincere shortcomings. He was overcome by fear (Genesis 12:9-20), was often entrenched in conflict (Genesis 13:1-13) and entanglements with evil men (see Genesis 14:23).
Through these lessons, God equipped him with both character and faith to believe that God’s call on his life would be realized, that he would become the father of many nations. Throughout Abram’s story, we also can see a deepening relationship with God. He had a desire to worship (Genesis 12:6-8) the Almighty, to pursue His vision (Genesis 13:14-18), and to make a covenant with Him (Genesis 15: 4-9, 18).
You are an answer to a question the world is asking. What has God already told you about who you are? How is God preparing your character to receive his unique blessings? Whether you are just starting out your journey with God, or you’ve been walking with Him for a long time, He has a divine purpose for your life. As we press into our relationship with The Father, we become more equipped and confident to carry out our calling.
