Stinking Thinking?

“But…but…I thought…” Ever say that and discover that what you THOUGHT, was wholly
inaccurate or untrue? I sure have! Thoughts become the basis for ideas, attitudes, actions, and beliefs. That’s why God’s Word says our minds must be renewed. (Romans 12:2)

Thoughts can enslave and control the trajectory of every day. What we THINK about is like a boat rudder. Our thoughts can lead us to safe, open waters or onto jagged rocks of destruction. God’s desire is for our thoughts to be saturated with truth. Anything less is fraught with danger.

“As a man THINKETH in his heart, SO IS HE.” (Proverbs 23:7) That is powerful! Familiar, destructive thoughts – God’s Word shatters them with TRUTH!

I’m a failure…
Truth: “You are no longer a slave, but a son, and since you are a son, you are also an heir.”
(Galatians 4:7)

I’ve run too far from God…
Truth: “…neither death, nor life, nor angels…nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:31)

I’m alone, forgotten by God…
Truth: “See! I will not forget you. I have carved you on the palms of my hands.” (Isaiah 49:16)

I’m ugly and stupid…
Truth: “Your beauty shall be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle…spirit, whichis of great worth in God’s sight.” (I Peter 3:34) “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” (Psalm 111:10)

One question that helped me identify the source of my thoughts (from the enemy or God?) is this: “Do these thoughts isolate me or do they draw me to God?”
The answer provides valuable insight.
