Still

Still

Jesus honors the command of rest and Sabbath from God and turns it into an invitation for us to find strength and respite in Him.

Exodus 31:17 NKJV:“In six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.” God himself rests after labor.

Deuteronomy 5:15 NKJV: “Therefore, the Lord your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.” Command is not a suggestion, but a direct order from the Lord.

Psalm 46:10 NKJV: “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Stillness is trust in God’s sovereignty.

Keeping the Sabbath is a command from God, in Exodus 31:17, yet we often respond as if it were a suggestion. We must follow our Creator’s example and rest. Our worth is not dependent on productivity or performance; it comes from God’s grace and our belief in Him as our Lord and Savior. Rest becomes an act of faith and obedience that honors God. In times of high stress, demanding work schedules, and family responsibilities, we must rely on God, not ourselves. Choose Sabbath and proclaim that God is sovereign and sufficient.
