The Prodigal Son
Luke 15
….And when he came to himself.
“Come now, and let us reason together, Says the Lord: thou your sins be as scarlet they shall be white as snow.” ~Isiah 1:18
He said “how many hired servants of my father have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger?”
“I am the bread of life; he that comes to me shall never hunger ; And he that believes in me shall never thirst.” ~John 6:35
“I will arise and go to my father.”
“Come unto Me all you that labor and are heavy burdened And I will give you rest.” ~Matthew 11:28
“I have sinned against heaven, and before you…I am no longer worthy to be called your son.”
“A broken and a contrite heart you will not despise, Oh God.” ~Psalms 52:11
“Make me as one of your hired servants.”
“I had rather be a door keeper in the house of my God, then to dwell in the tents of wickedness.” ~Psalms 84:10
…and he arose, and came to his father.
“If any man thirst, let him come to me to drink.” ~John 7:37
….but when he was a great way off, his father saw him.
“Lord, you have searched me, and know me…You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways… Your eyes did see my substance, yet being imperfect, and in Your book all my members are written.” ~Psalms 139
….and the father had great compassion and kissed him, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.
“The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and rich in mercy. He has not dealt with us after our sins; or reward us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward them that fear Him. Like a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear Him.” ~Psalm 103
…..but the father said to his servants “bring forth the best robe, and put a ring on his finger and shoes on his feet.”
“I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God, for He has clothed me in the garments of salvation, and He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bride groom dresses himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself.” ~Isaiah 61:10
….and bring the fatted calf, and kill it, and let us eat and be merry.
“Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repents.” ~Luke 15:10
…..For this my son was dead, and is alive, he was lost, and is found.
“I am the Resurrection and the Life. He that believes in me though he were dead, yet shall he live.” ~John 10:25
….and they began to be merry.
“And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.” ~Isaiah 35:10
