Love or Nothing

Love or Nothing

We did a series that dealt with the spiritual gifts. These gifts are listed in I Corinthians 12 and then the gifts are explained in Chapter 14. It is interesting to note that right between the two chapters on spiritual gifts, 12 and 14, Paul deals with the topic of love.  It is a very strong message I believe has been ignored. O yes, the church has taught about love, love and more love, but Paul brings a very sobering word to us. He says that if we possess and practice all of the spiritual gifts and leave out love, we are nothing, meaning “of no importance at all”. And he is not talking about just any love. He is talking about the love of Jesus.  This love is different than the love for friends, family or things.  This is the love that releases the power of God to be made manifest in our lives! This is the love that brings us into the most intimate connection to our Savior because Jesus IS love! Love is the key that unlocks the spiritual gifts to flow from a place of purity, where judgement and piety cannot stand. It is a love that breaks the heart of the believer activating God’s anointing to flow from a mere man. I believe the lack of this kind of love is one of the main reasons the church is so weak, anemic and powerless. So much so that I refuse to be that! I am so excited about this journey to be a powerful people for the cause of Christ! May God add His blessing to a people who are hungry and thirsty for His presence!
