Inquire of the Lord

INQUIRE OF THE LORD

“David inquired of the Lord, and the Lord answered him.”
(I Samuel 23:4)

David’s inquiry of the Lord was not an isolated event. We find that he inquired of the Lord nine times in the books of first and second Samuel. David knew that each time he was faced with a dilemma, he needed to seek God and wait for His answer before moving forward. This practice of continuously inquiring of the Lord is a beautiful model for our personal relationship with God.

God knows our struggles and our challenges. He knows we have important, impactful decisions to make each and every day. He is always available with answers and direction, if we will lay down our anxieties, refuse to strive and just ask Him. He gladly reveals His will to us when we surrender our need to control, both the process, and the outcome, of our situation.

He sees us. He is deeply aware of all that concerns us. He teaches us critical lessons and reveals His purposes as we pray, share our burdens and wait for answers from Him!

We would be wise to cultivate the habit of inquiring of the Lord ALWAYS, as David did. Remember, God sees the beginning, the middle and the end and He will never lead us where His presence does not go before us, and His grace and mercy do not follow.
