Colossians 1:17 says, “He is before all things and in Him all things hold together.”
This is not a fluffy, feel-good verse. God, quite literally, is holding the world together!
A little bit of science to explain.
Have you ever played with magnets and noticed how if you put the opposite ends of two magnets together (positive and negative), the magnets will snap together? That’s how magnets work, right? But if you try to put the two like ends together (positive-positive), the magnets will repel each other.
I was in a chemistry class where the professor could not explain what held the nucleus of an atom together. You see the nucleus contains neutrons (which have no charge) and protons, which have a positive charge. Inside every nucleus of every atom in the universe you have protons that should be repelling each other and actually exploding the atom!
Full disclosure, I am not a scientist and am only sharing what this professor said. It was not until I later came across this scripture in Colossians that I remembered that science class.
God reveals His spiritual truths in the natural. He showed me that He is actually holding every nucleus of every atom in His hand. Now that my friend is a very big, very powerful God!
