Even The Soldiers

Even the Soldiers

When my twins were 3 year olds, we would have some of our best discussions in the car. Sometimes, the wisdom that came from that back seat left me in awe. One such time was a day when we were discussing the crucifixion of Christ.

I had just told them about a passage in Luke 23: “And Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.’”

My son’s sweet little voice responded, “Mommy, even the soldiers? Jesus wanted God to forgive the soldiers who killed him?” With tears rolling down my cheeks I whispered, “Yes, son. Even the soldiers.”

If you’re reading this today thinking you’ve strayed too far this time or the collection of all your numerous mistakes has made you unworthy to be forgiven, please let this preschoolers question permeate your heart. Jesus came for you! He’s waiting for you to lay your burdens at his feet. He’s ready to forgive you and bring healing to your heart.
