Bowl Tipping Prayers

Bowl Tipping Prayers

Where are the drought busting, mountain moving, bowl tipping, prayers of God’s people? How do we get from here to there? The short answer is, I don’t know. I come to the table with more questions than answers, communing with The Bread of Life but still hungry. How about you?

I see in 1 Kings: 18, a prelude to the much-needed rain was the realization and confession of all the people in the area that God is the one true, almighty, King of kings. This conclusion came after the “fire on the altar contest” where the true God responded with fire on a water-soaked altar with nary a flicker from the Baal contingent. Then came the outpouring.

Are miracles a catalyst to stronger faith and prayer or should we look more closely to the Body of Christ dynamics of unity and corporate prayer? Prayer groups in churches have a history of the “slow dissolve” as people get busy – no condemnation – been there! But, if we are indeed His body, we need to pray in closer relationship than social media can achieve.

Relationship between the head and a healthy body is unified and fluid among the individual parts, every joint supplying. The weak are buoyed by the strong. If there is an itch on the shoulder, there is a hand to scratch it. Language coming from a healthy mind-body connection, makes sense. Body life is one key. There are others – a journey worth exploring.
