Awakening Hope in the Obstinate Areas

Have you ever subconsciously stopped praying for something important that you used to pray for? It’s not as if you don’t go through the motions of praying for it occasionally but, deep down, you really don’t believe it will ever happen.

For me, three areas fit such a description. They are my “stubborn supplications.” These pleas have been ongoing for years without victory. I’m not talking about a “name it, claim it” posture. Rather, these petitions align with God’s calling and purpose for my life and His Kingdom.

Lately, the Lord has ministered to me about awakening hope in the stubborn supplications. Subtle hopelessness has besieged my spirit, and the Lord wants it banished. “Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you,” (Ps 9:10).

If you experience unfulfilled answered prayers, I encourage you to rouse hope that the Lord still wants to bring the triumph in His way.

WE ARE CALLED. If we are seeking His will and call on our lives, He will put the desires in our hearts to fulfill our purpose on this earth. Roadblocks cannot stop His plan.

WE HAVE HEARD HIS VOICE. He is resolute and will not contradict Himself. WE GROW IN THE WAITING ROOM. Waiting develops character. He wants us to experience His presence during the desperate straits and flex our trust muscles. The wait will end.

Disappointment can be painful. During the tough times, it helps me to remember that there is a bigger picture happening and, as I remain faithful to Him, he will strengthen my hope and resolve.

“In this world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world,” (Jn 16:33).
