Anchored In Hope

Anchored in Hope

One of the keys to the loaves and fish miracle we read about in the Bible was that the disciples had a clear and confident hope in Jesus instead of a mere reliance on their own resources. He is “the author and finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2), and we will always be discouraged if we lose our hope in the Savior of our souls.

As believers, we are anchored in hope when we’re absolutely confident that God will work everything for our good (Hebrews 6:19). That’s what happened when the disciples put their trust in Jesus, and it can happen in your situation as well.

While the world’s definition of hope is wishful thinking, Scriptures’ definition of hope is the expectation of God’s goodness. It takes the promises of God and gives them a tangible quality instead of letting them dangle in the winds of wonder and doubt.

As believers we know that God is the originator of all good in our lives. So we know when we hope we are relying on the expectation of God to be true to His very nature. When we hope, we know His goodness will reign supreme, as it always does.

Hope births in our hearts when we stop wishing for something, and we start watching for it to come to pass. Our eyes are no longer on what we think we see, but on the truth and reality of God’s Word.

We become overcomers in life only when we have a full confidence of God’s goodness. Knowing His very nature, we can expect His power to transform us…renew us…and set us free!
