The Power At Work Within Us

The Power At Work Within Us

I recently viewed a video of two bear cubs being chased off by a yappy Yorkie doggie.

It was too cute…two bears running from a little dog. And, then, it hit me. Wait! Isn’t that just like us?

We are joint heirs with Christ, children of the King, yet find ourselves crippled with fear from life’s circumstances – fear of the unknown, fears that we don’t measure up, fears that we aren’t worthy to do anything for God or to live and experience abundant life in Christ.

Rise up my child! Claim who you are in Christ!  By His grace, we can do all things through Him who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13).  God’s word is full of promises for his children to claim every day, regardless of our circumstances.

I’m currently in the hospital with a loved one in great pain.  I’m hopeful and resting in the fact that God is in control and will take care of our situation.

Those bear cubs had the power to stand up to that little, yappy Yorkie. With a swipe of a paw, they could have sent him on his way, but they could not see that and didn’t recognize the power they possessed.

Peter actually walked on water as he kept his eyes on the Master, but as soon as he took his eyes off Jesus, he began to sink.  Therein lies the key. We need to keep your eyes on Jesus, bask in His Word daily and we will find ourselves living by faith in that “abundant” life our Savior promises!

As I shared this post with my husband this morning, he reminded me of the story of David and Goliath. David conquered the giant, Goliath, because of the confidence he had in his God.  Just like the little Yorkie, we can go and face those bear cubs, and, like David, we can defeat that giant, as long as we are trusting in Jesus.

“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20).
