10 Things We Can Learn About The Word

Hebrews 4:12-13 says, “For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”

Here are 10 things we can learn about the word of God from these two verses of scripture:

  1. The Word belongs to God. (John 14:10; John 1:14; 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
  1. The Word of God is alive! (John 1:1; Isaiah 55:11)
  1. It is powerful. (Jeremiah 23:29; 1 Pet 1:23)
  1. It is piercing and sharp enough to cut both ways. (Ephesians 6:17; Revelation 1:16)
  1. The Word is perceptive and has the precision to make critical, divisive, moral and spiritual dissections. It can divide the most intimate parts of us. (Luke 2:34,35)
  1. The Word is not something; it is someONE. The Word is a person who can discern! (Revelation 19:13)
  1. He can discern our inner secret thoughts and intents of the heart. (Revelation 2:23)
  1. No one can hide from the Word. (Jeremiah 23:24; Psalm 139:11,12)
  1. The Word is omniscient (all knowing). (Proverbs 15:3)
  1. The Word will hold all people accountable according to His standard. (Romans 14:10-12; Matthew 12:36)
