Christian Values Is Not Enough

“Christian Values” Is Not Enough

Time and time again, I hear people highlighting “Christian values.” It is a good thing to have Christian values, but it is not enough. For centuries, various cultures and religions have adopted Judaic philosophies and various Christian principles. I am sure you have heard proverbs from various cultures that sound identical to the proverbs in the Bible. But is it enough? The answer is, no! It is not enough to hold Christian principles and values.

Even if we have good values and follow Christian principles, we must remember, “No one is good except God alone!” (Luke 18:19) If good values and principles were enough, we would not be in need of a Savior. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

Our righteousness is not sufficient! It is our faith in Jesus, who is the Son of God, our Lord and Savior; it is our belief that His death on the cross was sufficient payment for our sins, that He overcame death by rising from the dead and is now seated at the right hand of the Father; and our belief in His coming return to judge the living and the dead. It is our belief in these things that allow us to be clothed in His righteousness.

Without Jesus Christ, any attempt to follow the principles of God will return hollow and will ultimately be clothed in arrogance, pride, and haughtiness. It is only in His righteousness, through the Holy Spirit, that we can even properly execute the principles of God.

You must have His mind in order to properly follow His ways. So let us stop lifting up “Christian values” and instead lift up the God of the values, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
