Luke 7:36-50
She stood, trembling at the door of the Pharisee’s house. What was she thinking? To come here, out in the open like this? She was afraid, yes, but love propelled her.
Jesus was reclining to eat. She slipped silently behind Him and she began to weep. She knelt and began washing His feet with the torrent of tears that dripped from her face – a torrent filled with worship for the pardon she’d found in His words.
Had she heard Him preach in the city? We don’t know. But, Jesus had changed her life of shame and sin and she could no longer hold onto her debt of love.
She wordlessly bathed His feet and poured on perfumed oils. She toweled them with her hair and continually kissed them.
She knew He was there and she was desperate. She ignored the cold stares and hostile glares. She boldly shouted her praise with no words, no sound.
He knew she was there. Jesus heard her silent adoration. It shouted to Him and reached His heart. Passion entered the room and God’s presence responded.
She loved much, because much had been forgiven.
