The Great Rescuer

Psalm 9:10: “Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.”

Last week I was drowning in a pool of needs. We’re foster parents so every child we have in our home comes from an experience of neglect and/or abuse. Every one of them comes to us with their own trauma story and every trauma is represented by different behavior. Last week we had three children show us their trauma needs in different ways and, somewhere in the middle of it all, I was drowning. In the early morning I wept over every need I had no ability to meet and God whispered to my heart, “every need beyond your ability is a new beckoning for you to come close to me. I’m the miracle maker. I’m the life giver.” There it was. My life preserver.

If you have a need that is beyond you, if you feel hope cannot be found, reach out for your life preserver. He rescues us. He redeems our story. He makes us new. He will never forsake you. He has never left you. Rest in Him. Trust that Jesus, The Great Rescuer, is your safe place. Surrender your need to the Savior.
