Eyewitness to His Majesty

Eyewitness to His Majesty

Peter used this phrase in 2 Peter 1:16 in defense of the truth of the gospel. He SAW Jesus.

John 20:29 ESV: “transfigured and HEARD God’s voice of affirmation. This gospel is NO fable, he preached “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” That’s us!

Though we’ve never seen the physical Jesus, we have witnessed His majesty.

Psalm 19:1: “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.” Ever see a mountain and be rendered speechless? God’s majesty!

Hebrews describes Jesus as “the radiance of God’s glory and the exact imprint of His nature.” He is the manifestation of God’s majesty.

His majesty is makes God who He is—His character and nature—His holiness, mercy, justice, and infinite love.

2 Corinthians 3:18: “We behold the glory of the Lord…and are transformed into the same image…” Experiencing God’s majesty in our own lives releases us to boldly shine His glory.

We “see” Jesus, the perfect image of God’s glory, in spiritual perception. We witness His handiwork. We observe the aftermath of His footprints in our days.

We witness His majesty as we look into the eyes of our babies or as we see the complete transformation of a life once blighted by failure and sin.

His majesty is revealed in answers that come in our “impossible” circumstances.

His majestic presence sweeps over our sorrow and clothes the broken spirit in comfort.

The majesty of our God visits us in compassion and forgiveness when we choose poorly—when we mess up—when we lose our way.

In the depths of depression, the face of God shines His majesty in the darkness, bringing the shimmering light of hope.

We can truly attest that, like Peter, we are eyewitnesses to His majesty.
