The word metamorphosis means to change a person in nature into a completely different one, by natural or supernatural means.
That’s what God does for us when we believe on Jesus as Savior and Master. He SUPERNATURALLY changes us.
WE WERE: Alienated. “Once you were alienated from God…” Colossians 1:21. We were estranged, separated from Him “because of our evil behaviors.”
WE ARE: Ambassadors. “We are, therefore, Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal THROUGH us.” II Corinthians 5:20. Imagine choosing one who was alienated from relationship to present us to a world that does not know us at all!
WE WERE: Ungodly – vile, corrupt, degenerate. “…when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.” Romans 5:6.
WE ARE: His workmanship. “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus…” Ephesians 2:10. God takes a canvas, corrupt and vile, washes it in His blood and creates a masterpiece by His own hand. No matter what someone else has splattered on our canvas, Jesus starts anew.
WE WERE: Separated – away from safety, held captive. “Remember that at that time, you were separated from Christ … without hope and without God in the world.” Ephesians 2:12.
WE ARE: Redeemed. “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us.” Galatians 3:13. In Latin, redeemed means “buy back again”. We were bought back from our separation by the only currency that could pay – the blood of the perfect Lamb.
WE WERE: Lost. “He came to…save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10.
WE ARE: Loved. “I have loved you with an everlasting love.” Jeremiah 31:3. Jesus was always the rescue plan. He came seeking us in our lostness. His love found us and metamorphosis began.
