Most every morning I sit in my chair by my bedroom window and watch the sky change colors as the sun rises.
Then I take a walk and listen to the birds singing the new day in. I notice the beautiful fiery red color of the one Japanese maple tree in our community.
I find myself standing in awe of nature, and the God of its creation. And yet, I wonder about those that do not acknowledge God, much less a creator.
What do they think, what do they experience when they witness the magnificence and power of creation?
Because we are all created in the image of God, I believe every human being has a witness of God the creator in them. Ecclesiastes 3:11 says we all have “eternity in [our] hearts.”
The countless pictures and paintings that try to capture the beauty of nature, reveal to me that there is a striving to connect with the One that created that beauty.
Of course, there is no conscious acknowledgment of this in the heart of an unbeliever. But what if that were awakened in them? What if we as believers can be a part of that awakening?
What if we lived in such awe of not just what God has designed in nature, but also in humanity, in ourselves?
What if we were so filled with the knowledge of eternity in our hearts, and in the hearts of even the most hardened unbeliever?
Could we pray that to be awakened in them? Could our walking in that powerful awareness awaken others, just by that very presence of God within us?
I am challenged by this thought, and I pray I have challenged you.
