Mind Craft

Mind Craft

Romans 8:6 “…the mind set on the spirit is life and peace.”

I’ve never had interest in video games, but sometimes we learn lessons in unexpected places.

The other day my boys were playing Minecraft and I won’t name any names but—mistakes were made! One boy stole a “Netherite sword” from the other and their alternate universe crashed into our earthly reality. A scuffle ensued, and it was evident that there was a real breech in their relationship that needed repair.

The three of us discussed the value of time, trust, and empathy, and I concluded by assuring the victim that the sword would be restored to him in time. Here is where the lesson came. An hour later, I found the victim trying to steal back his sword by breaking into his brother’s system, rather than waiting for the promised redemption. I found myself saying, “Son, if you take matters into your own hands, you will miss the blessing. Have I ever lied to you?”

And that is when God repeated the question to me about things stolen from me, “Daughter, if you take matters into your own hands, you will miss the promised blessing. Have I ever lied to you?” You see, it’s not about what was stolen from us… the opportunity is in the middle of the redemption story. The blessing is how God is crafting our minds to trust His ways and promises.

In the waiting, my mind must meditate on His word and believe His promises over my life. Whether it’s a Netherite sword, job, car, relationship, or dream stolen from us—the Father is asking us to wait confidently and follow His instructions. He is asking us to believe that He will restore our peace.
