Colossians 3: 14: “But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection (completion)”. 2 Peter 1:5-7: “Add to your faith these things – virtue, knowledge, self control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, love.”
Love is the bond of perfection (completion)- the evidence of having added to our faith. Love has a firm foundation from which it operates. It is established on all these things. “Love”, as defined by our culture, has no foundation, and collapses when the storms of life come.
It is time to add these things mentioned in 2 Peter to our faith, to build a foundation which can withstand and hold strong during the storms of life. And it is time for believers (this must begin in the household of faith) to put on the bond of love as a testimony of the completed work of Christ in us. When this happens, the world will know that we are His children, they will know we are Christians…by our love.
