Ephesians 6:6: ”…not by way of eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.”
The word surrender sometimes connotes a negative impression We hear, “Keep going”, “Don’t give up!” “You can do it”. We rarely hear, “Give up” “Enough now” “Surrender”. But surrender is a major building block to spiritual maturity.
Why is surrender difficult? It means giving up OUR control and allowing GOD to take over. Sounds easy. It’s not. But God has earned a place of trust. We can rest in that.
Why do we hold onto things? Perhaps we have not yet proven God’s perfect character. He’s up to the task. Start with one thing. Give it totally to God and be amazed at the result.
What would I lose if I let go? I love this! We lose worry, stress, exhaustion and fear. Who needs these tortuous enemies?
What would I gain? Peace, trust, contentment, spiritual growth and better decisions! That’s a win!
If you’re holding onto destructive things in your life, there is a way out – SURRENDER to the One who holds your heart and your destiny and who loves you with an everlasting love.
